For the protest against increased fares both sides were capable in Hannover in summer 1969 to break through the ritual of previous courses of protest by a new element - the 'Rote-Punkt-Aktion' (red-spot-campain). The Rote-Punkt-Aktion worked this way: ãInhaber von PKWs zeigten mit einem rotem Punkt auf wei§em Papier hinter der Windschutzscheibe ihre Bereitschaft, Personen als Anhalter mitzunehmen. So wurde der gesamte šffentliche Personennahverkehr und sogar, zum Hšhepunkt der Proteste, der Berufsverkehr organisiert." ⁵ (with  a red dot on white paper behind their windshield car owners showed their preparedness to take hitchhikers. This way the complete public transfer and even later at the height of the protests the rush hour was organized). The municipality used this form for its ends and also had red dots printed.The ritualized confrontation of the municipality in fact remained part of the conflict parallel to the confrontation of the protesters but the demonstrators were successfull to influence the situation to their advantage by introducing the new element. The break-up of known rituals leads then to new situations

• The efficacy of a movement lies in the new situation - which takes surprising courses for the players as well. This situation of protest works only once in principle , or rather only as long as no fixed forms or ritual have evolved and the development of the situation is not predictable.
• A "successful"  protest situation has no spectators. ãSo ist die Situation dazu bestimmt, von ihren Konstrukteuren erlebt zu werden.Ò⁶ (So the situation is meant to be experienced by its constructors.)
• An effective protest cannot be planned in detail. ãDie Situation ist (...) eine Verhaltenseinheit in der Zeit. Sie besteht aus Gesten, die in der Ausstattung eines Moments enthalten sind. Diese Gesten sind aus der Ausstattung und aus sich selbst heraus entstanden. Sie erzeugen andere Formen der Ausstattung und andere Gesten. Wie kann man diese KrŠfte lenken?Ò ⁷("The situation is a unit of behavior in time. It consists of gestures which are contained in the repertoire of a moment. Those gestures evolved from the repertoire and out of themselves. They create other forms of repertoire  and other gestures. How can these forces be guided?"⁷)
