These are different, unusual matters*
with which the artist confronts us, matters which had serving functions
in the art process before, emancipated themselves and have become art themselves:
organic
matter like plants and operating humans and and non-organicmatter
for which the text taken from the area of technics stands symbolically.
The disparate worlds of nature and rationalized industrial technic, society
are meeting each other in a weird way and let things appear in a different
light. The problem of sign and significant becomes obvious as well as the
relation between nature and technic is looked at critically. The organic
process of growth is confronted with the mechanical functioning of the
motor. And all kinds of processes of metabolism take place on different
levels and in different ways: in the plant itself, as a growing changing
organism(and the photosynthesize) another metabolism in the human
himself is eating. The plant experiences a transformation of matter, by
being eaten as food now, the body serves as transformer and through the
strengthening a profane transsubstantiation is happening and hopefully
transformed mental energy is released for the matter of metabolism (change
of consciousness).
So Metabolism is happening in the action through the process-like character of the work , in operating, in thinking, but also as formal , space related and timely change. In the interactive process-like works of Uwe Ochsler there is always exchange, change, transformation, alteration and movement the subject. Art meetings develop of a different kind, playful, thrillingly cheerful, open and demanding. The artist gives the push for the course of the work, which then only in interplay with the spectators develops. The end and the result we have to wait for. Enjoy MATTERCHANGEMATTER.
